Standard PLA, or Polylactic Acid, is among the most popular 3D printing materials in the world because it is easy to print and strong. Standard PLA is a hard plastic that produces a barely noticeable, but quite pleasant, sugary smell when extruding.

Standard PLA has a quick transition from molten to solid, enabling it to potentially provide finer detail than most other 3D printed plastics.

Quality: All 3D-Fuel 3D printer filament is manufactured in their own production facility located in Fargo, North Dakota. They have complete control over the manufacturing process and are able to ensure consistent quality for every spool.

Diameter Tolerance: Variable diameter can cause big problems in your 3D printer. 3D-Fuel uses a multi-axis laser measurement system to control their filament diameter and ovality in real time during production. Every spool has the diameter and ovality measurements listed right on the box!

Packing Information: A full 1kg (2.2lbs) of plastic filament arrives on an easy-to-use plastic reel and is vacuum sealed with a desiccant packet to keep out any moisture. Select colors are also available in 4kg spools

Standard PLA
Recommended Extrustion Temperature: 185°C - 215°C
Recommended Nozzle size: Any Size

Recommended Retraction Settings:

.5mm per 0.1mm of nozzle diameter

(ie. 2.5mm retraction when using a 0.5mm diameter nozzle)

Recommended Print Surface:

Hot - Glass heated to 60-70°C or 50°C with a very light coat of pva glue. (if using any glue, or hairspray with a heated bed use it very sparingly. PLA will stick very well and can be difficult to remove without braking or chipping the glass.

Cold - Blue Painter's tape, glass (with a coat of pva glue or high water content  hairspray), or BuildTak surfaces

PLA bonds very firmly to acrylic. Printing directly on an acrylic surface is not recommended

Print Cooling fan?

Print cooling fans are highly recommended with PLA filament and usually result in a very noticeable improvement in the appearance of the print. Print cooling fans also greatly improve the ability to bridge gaps and print overhanging areas without support when using PLA filaments.
